Pretty Path Light and Pansies
It’s nice – in the winter – to see the pretty colors of pansies out in the chilly garden beds. With a little accent lighting, you can enjoy looking at the color, even at night. We chose this beautifully sculpted Kichler path and area light to enhance this bed of pansies in Castle Hills, Lewisville, TX.

Trees in the fall
In the fall I notice the trees more than other times of the year.
The leaves get blown around more now in the early autumn winds, some of them may start to change color soon.
I love to do tree downlighting – we call “moonlighting” this time of year.
The structure of the tree really comes through when you aim the light down through the branches.
When there are leaves on, the shadow of the leaves move and almost shimmer on the ground below.
After the leaves have fallen, the limb structure creates a stronger pattern on the ground, still filtering the light.

We can do this with line voltage or HID mercury vapor or ceramic metal halide or with low voltage LED
Roses
I think summer smells the best. I like fall really well too – football, brisk fall air, the first scent of a fireplace burning.
But summer smells like roses and jasmine. Mmmmmmmm
But do you light roses? I have mixed feelings about it.
On the one had, wow, they really add color and beauty to the garden in the summer.
On the other hand, they are just a thorny stick in a mulch pile in the winter.
So I’d say, if there are other elements nearby, as in this garden, which has boxwood, lambs ears, and is refreshed with annual color all year – go ahead and put in a downlight that can show the color and texture of the gorgeous roses.
OK, I just thought this was funny
This is a legit piece of warehouse equipment – LOL
It’s a cardboard baler – mashes up cardboard boxes for recycling but c’mon that’s pretty funny.
Cram-alot. really?
Circuit Breakers
It’s really best to have a dedicated circuit for your landscape lighting system. Additionally, that circuit should have a GFCI at the outlet.
Also, uneven power delivery is pretty normal in Texas. Spikes can shorten the life of your electronics and really mess with your lamp life.
We’ve been noticing some of our clients need additional breakers or don’t have surge protection for their homes or electronics.
We’re here to help. Our licensed electrician can assess your breaker box and see if it needs replacement or additional circuits.
At a recent open house event, we attended a training on Eaton circuit equipment.
