Sometimes we come onto a job after the preliminary work has been set in stone….literally! This backbox is already in and wires are to it, but no fixture was specified. Hmmmmm. Working on this now.

Alex is soldering the connections. Then we cap it with a silicone filled direct burial wire nut for THE BEST electrical connection possible. We work hard to be sure that everything about the lighting installation is top quality!

LED – a beautiful light
0This is a sample of the light output form a new Kichler LED fixture. It’s so similar to what we currently use for a 20 watt lamp it’s unbelievable. Using 75% less power, this light has beautifully diffused edges with no indication of the center hot spot we sometimes see with lesser quality halogen MR lamps. We’ll put this into test at our showroom and let you know how it does. So far I like the warm color, the even distribution of light and the compact size of the fixture. I must say I don’t care for the tiny screws that attach the front hood, which is sold as an accessory.

Circuit Breakers
0It’s really best to have a dedicated circuit for your landscape lighting system. Additionally, that circuit should have a GFCI at the outlet.
Also, uneven power delivery is pretty normal in Texas. Spikes can shorten the life of your electronics and really mess with your lamp life.
We’ve been noticing some of our clients need additional breakers or don’t have surge protection for their homes or electronics.
